HIDDEN FIGURES – Biography/Drama/History (2016) – Rated PG
Meet the amazing women you never knew existed…
Based on actual events, this is a wonderfully uplifting story about ‘firsts’ during the 1960’s. When segregation was rife, women’s roles were compromised, and the NASA space program was keenly competing against the Russians to send the first man into space, who of us knew that NASA found untapped talent in a group of African-American female mathematicians known as “human computers”? This film concentrates on the real-life journeys of Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Johnson as they, alongside many of history’s smartest minds, serve as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in U.S. history – calculating the momentous launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, and guaranteeing his safe return. Three compelling performances bring these real women and their talents to life in this previously untold story.
Do not miss this inspirational true story about strong, talented women struggling for their rights as they aspire to make a meaningful contribution.
